What a great afternoon, full details of this visit will be published in the next newsletter and at the same time on the website. 23 of the 25 members made the journey. Unfortunately Jim and Ann were unable to attend and had to make do with me telling them just how good it was.

Pembrokeshire Hogspital, a hospital for hedgehogs.  It is based in Haverfordwest and take in hedgehogs from Carmarthen, Cardigan, Ceredigion and all Pembrokeshire and we are coming up to baby time and it is really difficult to locate any goat's colostrum. This is mixed with puppy milk Esbilac and they thrive much better. Please have any members got goats colostrum in their freezers that they do not want?

The next Lammas open day is on Sunday June 6th from 2-00pm. In order to guage the level of interest and give Paul an indication of how many are likely to attend could any DSA members planning to attend please contact Nick or Glyn Falcon on 01239 841449 with numbers attending. There is a limited amount of parking so car sharing would be a good idea.

HOW TO GET THERE.
From A40 – Penblewyn Roundabout – Right on A478 signed for Cardigan.  Through Clunderwen, Llandissillio, Efailwen and Glandy Cross. Past the Preseli viewing point lay-by continue approx 1 mile. Take the RIGHT TURN signed to GLANDWR. Continue down this road for 1.5 miles to the cross roads in the village TURN LEFT Continue on this road over the river bridge then half a mile on your LEFT you will see a new entrance clearly marked LAMMAS.  Post Code for those with Satellite Navigation is SA34 0YD.

Open farm Sunday 13th June 2010 as part of LEAF-Linking Environment and Farming UK.
Brenda Howell - Breed promotion officer for Jacob sheep Wales will open Parcllyn Farm 2-5pm, between Betws Ifan and Beulah, signed from A487 at Goggerddan crossroads. Various activities including farm walk - Pedigree jacobs and Charolais crosses. Woolcraft demonstrations.
Refreshments and field parking on site.

Every Friday Chris and Carol Coffin butcher their home reared meat, beef, rare breed pig as well as seasonally lamb  and make cheese for their smallholding business and they have kindly offered to allow DSA members who would like to watch this in progress as a sort of tutorial to come along by appointment. So if you are thinking of home butchery or cheese making and would like to see their operation why not learn the tricks of the trade by contacting Chris or Carol on 01267211218 to arrange a Friday to look and learn.
